Gowanus Funeral

In documenting Shawn Lyons' boat installation on the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, few months after Sandy's devastating passage, Caroline Pham puts together a film that portrays the journey taken by Shawn in publicly performing a funeral for an unfortunate dolphin that died in the toxic waters nearby a few weeks earlier. In honoring the dolphin's death Shawn wishes to save his own sunken boat. The result is a poetic comedy, a grim parade, or a grand allegory shedding hope for our beloved canal.
